Established in 1821, the Cat & Shadow was an opium brothel that belonged to Joanna and Wendy Beauchamp. Joanna, heart-broken after the departure of her husband Victor Beauchamp, started to indulge into opium even though she had two daughters to raise: Ingrid and Freya.
At some point, Ingrid and Freya started a fortune tandem into the establishment, Ingrid crafting healing jewelry while Freya read their future to the customers. One day, Freya unknowingly invited Edgar Allan Poe to a reading.
