It's OK. I always knew there was magic in this world. I love being right.
— Hudson's final words.

Hudson Rafferty was Ingrid Beauchamp's gay co-worker at the library as well as her best-friend. He helped her cast a fertility spell on Barb at the library.

Biography[]

Ingrid's magic[]

Hudson, Barb and Ingrid had been working together for a long time at the East End Public Library, and developed a friendly relationship all together. Hudson especially liked to tease Ingrid about her awkwardness with boys, such as with detective Adam Noble.

One day, when Barb came crying at work, Hudson and Ingrid learnt that her latest attempt at getting pregnant via IVF failed. Barb joked about using Ingrid's knowledge of the occult to cast a spell to make her pregnant, and if Ingrid and Hudson laughted it away, they later came around and thought they should do it, just for fun. The day after, Barb came back to the library and told Ingrid it had worked - that she was finally pregnant.[1]

Quotes[]

I'm googling sex spells.
— Hudson, seeing how efficient Ingrid's spells are.

Ingrid, you are the most proper, rule-abiding person I know. I mean, you won't even take a library book home without officially checking it out...
— Hudson's way of telling Ingrid she has no darkness inside her. [src]

Notes[]

  • In the novels, Hudson truly believes in Ingrid's magic and is fairly excited about opening a "witching hour" session every day at the library.
  • Hudson doesn't die in the novels; he even gets married and Ingrid is his maid of honour.
